Your going to far back Lincoln freed the slaves in a nutshell . Fast forward many years and mr Hoover got frightened by Martin Luther king . He organized a switch of parties blacks would support democrats , undermining thier republican led freedoms from slavery again and again we go back to foundations becoming undone. But Hoover did it convinced black people not to vote for whom freed them ultimately undoing Luther’s work , and paving a way for a government that can hide it’s mistakes and truly proving the will of the people can be changed ,

Disaster. Trump and his team lack the fundamental skills and education to get what they need across the line. Given much of what they preached was fiction following through in any meaningful way on much of it is impossible. The Democrats fought an awful campaign, but still alarming that it played out like this. I will avoid for a few years and hope that they don’t cause too many damaging ripples in Europe.

To be fair to them, I think even a lot of Republican economists learned (after acknowledging that the 2008 financial crash was a dreadful but maybe inevitable long-term consequence of all the Reagan deregulation of the 1980s) that reducing regulation typically leads to some terrible -though always unintended and unforeseen - outcomes.

But if you look at the differences between the staff and cabinet appointments last time around and this time around, and at what he said during the campaign about his plans for staff and cabinet appointments this time around, it’s pretty clear that he’s desperate to avoid what happened last time, when anyone with any sense of ethics, honesty, decency, public service and so on eventually fell out with him completely and just ended up shaming him and calling out his appalling dishonesty in public.
He naturally wants to avoid a repeat of that.
But that means that loyalty to him is now his primary concern, so he’s necessarily appointing people without those “fundamental skills and education to get what they need across the line” (as you so very tactfully worded it!).
The question is how much damage they’ll collectively do, nationally and unfortunately internationally, too. Right now, it’s all looking about as bad as it could.

Regulations were designed not to be burdensome, but rather to target the misconduct of individuals and corporations which prompted government intervention in revising and expanding regulations to adapt to the present circumstances.
Outdated elements and things that may be a burden may need to be removed, but it’s important to acknowledge that we reached this stage due to misconduct.
